Hectic Year, and Subscription Boxes
Okay, so. I've been really busy for the past *half year*, so this post is really going to be just an update kinda thing.
Work-wise, I've just been "regularized". After two years, it's finally pushed through. Hahah. I guess that's good, since I'll be getting employee benefits now. Downside to it is that, I now have to be at the office from 9-6. But yeah. At least it's official now.
Another thing I've been busy with are two weddings. Sis and I are helping out with the decor and semi-planning two weddings, one a week after the other. Haha, so good luck to us!
For one wedding, we have created a lot of DIY elements, like the centerpieces and boutonnieres. Maybe I'll post about the boutonnieres in my next post. :) We still have to finish decoupage-ing the cans for the centerpiece, and then cut fabric for the canopy and stage area.
For the other wedding, which is my brother's, we're just doing minimal decorating. Sis is doing the calligraphy for the envelopes and table numbers, and I am doing the invites.
So yeah. This month's pretty hectic for me.
Anyway, I'm a bit excited for a few things this month. One's because my cousins are arriving from the USA (for the first wedding). And another is because I've tried this thing called the subscription box.
A subscription box, as I've found out just recently, is a type of service wherein you subscribe and they pick out stuff that they think you'd like. You'd get a bunch of (surprise) samples, and sometimes full-sized items, from different brands (in my case, beauty brands) in a box delivered to you monthly. The price for one box is about Php 600. For that amount, you get to try about 5 product samples. Not much commitment needed. :)
I think this subscription box trend has been around for quite some time now, especially in the US and some parts of Europe. Beauty vlogger and entrepreneur Michelle Phan has a bag version of it, called ipsy.
Here in Manila, I think there are currently only four subscription box companies: Glamourbox PH, OrangeBox, BDJBox and SaladBox.
I've subscribed to GlamourBox just yesterday. Pretty excited as to what products I'll be getting! I normally don't just subscribe to these things, since I rarely use makeup, buuut... I was really thrilled with the idea of getting a box filled with goodies every month! In fact, I was so thrilled with it, that I got one for my sister, too. I'm going to give it to her as a holiday present. Heehee. :) Only fitting, since their theme for this month is Secret Santa box. Perfect for the holidays! Yay!
The GlamourBox email said that they'll be shipping my boxes my the last week of the month, so I've to wait until then. I hope the box has a lot of great products. When I do get my box, I shall have an unboxing of it. :)
My goodness, is this turning into a beauty blog now?!
